We are hoping to head to Qld for Xmas and need to find a reliable, trustworthy house-sitter to look after our 2 young whippets.
We have a modern 3br/2bathroom home in Central Daylesford, walking distance to shops etc.
We have 2 young whippets that need caring for in our absence. When they're not being boisterous, they're usually asleep, which is the major part od the day! Our female is and the other is just under 2 - so still a little bit of a pup - but showing great signs of promise!
We would prefer someone who is retired or not wanting to spend great blocks of time away from the home because our dogs are used to company and need someone who is just as a big a dog lover as we are! You can't go to the toilet here without an audience! :)
Our dogs don't need much exercise, but they do enjoy a short walk if and when, but it's not mandatory or expected. If it happens, then that's a bonus! They cannot be walked off-lead at all because we are on the edge of a forest and we have kangaroos in the area so it's not safe to let them off lead at any time. Mostly our 2 sleep a lot of the time, but when they play, they can play rough and therefore we need someone who is not intimidated by a bit of rough-housing and loud "Star-wars" noises! Our female sounds like Chewbacca when she's in full play mode! When they get like this, I usually pop them outside for a run around to burn off the energy or sometimes it's a matter of popping one dog in the office (the "quiet" room!) for a few minutes until they settle. They're not too difficult to manage and they have never fought in anger - they really do love each other. Thankfully, their "play" sessions don't last long. If you don't like indoorsy dogs, then this housesit will not suit.
Our dogs live inside, they need cuddles and interaction and they do need someone who understands dogs and someone who wont mind throwing a doggy blanket over them because they don't like the cold! They will also want to sit on the sofa with you at night time, but they do have their own beds that they use at "bedtime". (we don't have the dogs sleep in our room at all, we have our converted laundry that they sleep in). The only time the dogs would need to sleep in our rooms, is if there are storms about. Other than they, they have a pretty good night-time routine. Ideally, we need someone who is:- mature, fit & active, responsible, preferably a non-smoker and someone who doesn't mind watching tv with a dog (or two) beside them! Main criteria is for someone who loves and understands dogs and who won't be intimidated if they start playing and running around inside! A car would also be necessary - public transport in our area is not wonderful. A couple would be preferred, but happy to consider a single person if they are confident with 2 dogs - who can sometimes play a bit rough. We need someone who's going to be home (and happy to be around) for at least 60% of the day. References are a must; a police check would be highly regarded. If we got to meet you prior - that would be fabulous!
