Note: We had posted this ad earlier, but the housesitter we had made arrangements with had an emergency and had to cancel. So we are reposting, even though the dates are coming up quickly.
We need someone to stay in our lovely home to care for our four cats, collect mail, and water plants. No other serious duties, except to keep the house as clean and tidy as you would your own. Our housekeeper comes every week.
Our two-story, three-bedroom house has antenna TV service (including major networks and PBS), subscriptions to several streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Acorn) and and wireless Internet--no landline tele though. Our home is situated on eight acres within the city limits but has lovely mountain views.
Montrose is a friendly town of about 20,000 people, located in a valley near mountains and desert. The winter temperatures and amount of snowfall are not extreme. Its location is central to outdoor activities year round and to interesting historic towns and geographic features. It is near the ski town of Telluride and historic Ouray (hot springs pool!) and 65 miles from Grand Junction (populaion 67,000) for more comprehensive shopping.
There is easy access to downhill skiing at Telluride, Powderhorn (on Grand Mesa), and Crested Butte and to cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on nearby trails or in more mountainous areas within an hour from town, including on Grand Mesa or in the spectacular San Juan Mountains.
Montrose has a good system of walking/biking paths through town, including a path along the Uncompahgre River. Depending on the amount of snow in the area, you can hike on the many public trails on public lands, including in nearby canyons. In addition, A new recreation center is a mile from our house.
