We are a young couple currently farming in Ontario who have purchased a 12-acre farm property on the North Shore of Nova Scotia. We won't be able to move in until the end of the farming season this fall however, and so we are looking for a responsible and handy house-sitter to look after the place for four months until we do.
We have no pets. Upkeep would be pretty minimal, mowing the lawn around the house and generally keeping things tidy and in good repair as well as notifying us of any problems.
The house is a charming, well-maintained 1200 square foot, 3-bedroom house with a spacious bathroom. The house sits atop a hill with a stunning view of the harbour. It is located about a 25-minute drive from both New Glasgow and Antigonish, both bigger towns with all the conveniences you would need and lots of summer events. It is still quite rural, so your own vehicle is required.
There is lots to see and do nearby, with provincial parks, beaches, little towns and several farmers' markets. It is also close to Cape Breton as well as the ferry to Prince Edward Island and only a 2-hour drive to Halifax.
Because we won't be fully moved in when the house-sit starts, it will only be lightly furnished with the necessities, including internet, cookware, fridge, oven, gas stove, dishes, bed, some furniture and a washing machine.
Please note: Pictures posted are from when we viewed the house, so the furnishings in them are not ours.
We are ideally looking for someone who can stay the full four months. This sitting would be perfect for any person or couple who works remotely, is retired, or who wants a quiet place to relax for the summer.
Thanks!
