Seeking short-term sitter for 7 days starting March 10th to care for my kitty Jacques and our apartment in Washington Hgts, Manhattan.
This is a pleasant, lo-fuss housesit where you will have easy access to all of New York City! The subway is a 2-minute walk away.
I am a business owner and spend a lot of time working from home. Jacques lost his sister a few months ago and seems to love my constant company and the added attention, but it's time for a vacation! :)
Whoever applies, I do need you to meet with me in person in advance of the visit so local sitters will work out best, and will be considered with priority. We can set up a Zoom call to start, but an in-person meeting at least 2-3 weeks before start date will be required.
Also, Jacques is partial to females and only single people, not couples. :)
We would love you to be a mature pet lover with references and resume/CV ; with any additional background checks or police reports a plus.
Responsibilities: Care for indoor, 14-year old cat Jacques; feed several meals a day, scoop litter box, and play a little - the usual. Jacques is friendly and curious and will probably snuggle up next to you on the couch and in bed.
Our place: Clean, spacious 1st floor 1-BR apt in an historic and safe part of upper Manhattan. 5 blocks from Riverside Park and the Hudson River for walking, running, biking; 2 blocks from the subway/bus. 30 minutes to Columbus Circle. Grocery shopping 1 block away, great coffeehouses nearby where you can hang out with your laptop in an indoor/outdoor space. Dishwasher, AC, laundry, HD TV (HBO, Netflix etc), W/D, good wifi. There is a queen-sized bed and a lovely spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Also a grand piano, and you are free to play it!
You: We look forward to meeting you! We ask that you be a non-smoker with references, and with a schedule where you can keep Jacques company at least for a few hours every day. No partying, smoking or drugging, and no overnight guests (unless discussed up front).
Special consideration:
Understand that street parking in this neighborhood is difficult. You may have to pay for a garage overnight. There is plenty of local public transportation, though.
