House Sitting Offer.
We are looking for house/dog sitters for May 20th 2019 through June 12th 2019 on the Island of Roatan, Honduras.
The Mariposa Lodge is 100 meters from the water on a quiet side street. />
Roatan is an Americanized Island 40 miles off the coast of Honduras roughly 38 miles long and 2 miles wide. We are in the center of West End, surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops and of course dive shops. It is largely an English speaking island as a holdover from it’s time as a British Colony.
There are direct flights from Canada via Air Transat and West Jet, and from the US on American, United and Delta. As well as several flights daily from the mainland.
Our apartment is on the third floor with a great ocean view. The lodge will be closed while we are away so duties are limited to keeping the decks swept, turning lights on and off and picking up leaves and palm branches from the yard.
Rascal is a 2 year old street dog we rescued at 6 months. He is 38 pounds very loveable and playful. He is free range running with other dogs in th e neighborhood. Two good walks a day keep him quiet enough to behave. But he’s a puppy and demands attention.
What we've done with House Sitters in past years is the following:
Electric is paid automatically on my credit card but the sitters agree to pay any surcharge above the normal bill rate. This basically covers everything unless the AC gets turned up.
Water is paid, but the bill deferred until we get back. 2 gig Internet and Cable will be prepaid up here, but the lodge lines suspended while we are closed. From a legal point of view. The lodge is closed. Any official inquiries are simply referred to our accountants Harlan or O'Brian.
I usually stock up on groceries before I leave to make the transition easier, and I do a pretty through shut down of the units, everything unplugged , water off and windows closed.
For this trip we will be taking the car to the mainland and traveling through Guatamala and Honduras. West End has everything you need within minutes walking distance and a larger “American” grocer is a few kilometers away in Coxen Hole. $2.50 by cab each way.
Because we are a hotel, we can easily accomidate you for a few days at no charge on eather side of the sit to accomidate travel convenience .
