We are seeking a Caring Responsible Active Couple/Friends to care for our six spoiled cats (all rescues) and one easy going dog. I am looking for a three week period starting the beginning of May At the moment these dates are flexible.
Candidate Must love animals, and want to spend time with them. Enjoy quiet simple living, be adventurous and self sufficient. Must be willing to adhere to specific care schedule.
The animals overall require very little care - you'll just need feed on a specific schedule. And give love and attention on demand. The fenced yard is large so the dog does not need to be walked but she does enjoy following you on walks around the neighborhood. The cats need to come in the house at night. They are used to a specific schedule that you need to continue. They range in age from 14 years to one year - all healthy.
We also have a few chickens that are easy to care for and they give you fresh eggs daily.
It is required for you to stay over night every night. We offer a choice of staying in my house or in our rental (both on same property)
Daily tasks include animal feeding, egg collection, light garden/yard tasks such as sweeping.
Once a week the chicken pen needs to be cleaned - it takes about 15 minutes.
We have a weekly pool cleaner, and a bi weekly yard crew. In between times a light cleaning / tending to the outdoors is require.
The house is to be kept clean - with six cats indoors it needs to be vacuumed twice a week. They also like to sleep on the bed. Ants can be a problem with spilled cat food and if you don’t clean after yourself in the kitchen. I do expect the house to be clean when I return (same as I left it).
The half acre property has many shade & fruit trees in naturally landscaped gardens. Often referred to as a small finca; we are at the end of a dirt road surrounded by nature. We have no immediate neighbors.
There are three structures: The primary house has one bedroom with a queen size bed, small kitchen and a bathroom with shower. There is a covered porch and open patio. No A/C
The other building (referred to as the Casita) contains our studio which is where you would stay upon arrival. It has a queen bed, kitchenette and bathroom with shower. There is a covered porch, gas BBQ and a large open patio area.
There is also a workshop/storage building.
We recently installed a plunge pool that is next to the Casita.
We are conveniently located close to the InterAmericana highway along the Pacific Coast of Panama just west of the village of San Carlos. This is a rural community consisting of mostly vacation/beach weekend homes.
It is just a short walk to the quiet beach and in the other direction, a short walk to local buses.
This is not a paid position. However we offer the possibility to extend stay free of charge for a negotiated period of time. All utilities are included except .
This is a hot tropical environment - expect high humidity with temperatures around 85 degrees (F). Expect some rain as the rainy season starts in May and runs through to December.
You may choose to rent a car or just use the local bus / taxi. Daily car rental is available locally.
Basic knowledge of spanish is helpful, but not necessary.
There is internet but sometimes unreliable - as is in most of Panama.
