A mature female cat-lover, who would like a housesit for either one month or two months, is sought from 11th July in quiet but lovely Pauanui Beach.
Independent modern granny flat, attached to the house, will be home. Mature woman (cat prefers females), minimum age 30, who enjoys a quiet area with a mild winter and great scenery would like being here.
Someone looking for a long-term situation could do the whole sit, finishing on 12th Sept. Or two housesitters could do a month each, so if a month would suit you, please get in touch.
In the off season, Pauanui is a quiet place with many retired people but also many recreational opportunities, and someone who would fit into this scenario would very much enjoy their stay.
The flat has a double brm, and spare room with small table for computer etc. Small kitchen (bench-top oven / grill and 2-ring hob - not great for pro cooks, I'm afraid!), dishwasher, microwave etc. Wifi (capped: speed adequate but not suitable for streaming) and landline (free national calls to landlines, capped; housesitter to pay for own toll calls, eg to mobiles, overseas). TV (Freeview but no Sky), DVD player.
Main commitment is the feeding and attention for an older male cat, who is used to a lot of communication, very cuddly, and will want to sleep on your bed. He has arthritis and might require picking up to get onto the bed sometimes, and as he's a heavy cat, some strength fitness is required for that. He is super-loving and will never bite or scratch, and is very communicative.
Ability to send online messages would be an asset as a brief weekly confirmation that all is well with him would be great.
No lawnmowing or gardening reqd. Sorry, no children; no smoking inside.
This housesit might suit someone from southern NZ areas wanting to have a mild winter as Pauanui has a lovely climate. The winter nights can be cold but it warms up quickly in the morning and doesn't get chilly till later in the evening (no frosts). Electricity paid with an adequate capped limit. New house with brick walls, good insulation, flat gets sun all day, double-glazing.
Pauanui is a beautiful Coromandel settlement between beach and harbour, with access to many recreational facilities: beach, walking, cycling, golf, bowls, tennis, library, bridge, genealogy, etc. Day trips to several Coromandel and Waikato areas possible. Bushwalking in nearby Coromandel hills.
The flat has its own outside deck with a view down to the canal.
Own car needed as Pauanui has no bus service. Small local supermarket (about twice the size of a normal four-square-type store) which has all the basics incl fresh veg and fruit, and prices not bad; average New World in Whangamata, 30 mins drive. Large supermarkets about 3/4 hour away in Thames and 1 hour in Whitianga.
Whangamata has a good bowling club and other recreational facilities. Ditto Thames, slightly further away.
