We have a very late-breaking housesitter opening, and are looking for house sitter(s) for early, June and July, to mid-August (date can be flexible), who will care for our cats (feed them, clean litters) and keep our home and garden well maintained and tidy. We live in a 2000 sf territorial adobe brick house on the top of little hill on the outskirts of Tucson. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a patio and pool, with gorgeous views of mountains that ring Tucson and of the city of Tucson nestling in the foothills. Summer sunsets are spectacular, as is the full moon rise over Tucson. The house is set up with master bedroom and two book-lined studies.
Four years ago, we were adopted by a resourceful stray mother cat, Gaia, and her feral kittens, of which we have two left, Mr. Boots and Grisoo. They are all about three and a half years old now, very independent, clean and sweet. We have spent three years taming the kittens, but they are still skittery and hide a lot. Gaia had been someone's pet, and she's curious and friendly, and loves being petted, but these cats aren't mushy, won't sit in your lap, and are a family unit. Because of the surrounding desert and its dangers, the cats must remain indoors. Especially a cat-loving couple and/or cat whisperer would be welcome to apply. No smokers, and no children.
We can make our car available, and there's a swimming pool for cooling off, since summer can be hot. Our house is located near the Tucson Mountains with miles of hiking trails. Tucson is beautiful, and offers wonderful restaurants, recreational areas, golf courses, museums, Desert Museum, Old Tucson (the movie set that is now closed but visitable), and the peace and quiet of the desert.
