Kingsland, Texas, United States
Relax in the beautiful Hill Country!
Introduction
My husband Sid & I moved to the Hill Country in 2010 from Lincoln, NE & haven't looked back! Our view of 'Packsaddle Mountain' from the back porch is beautiful, especially the sunsets. The neighbors are friendly, & Kingsland being a lake community, there are many activities to enjoy.
Our primary hobby is TRAVEL! Since 2006 we have traveled to the Pacific Northwest & Victoria, B.C., Toronto & Great Lakes area, Maui, Austria, Germany, & Norway, Greece, Grand Cayman Island, Puerto Vallarta Mexico, Italy, Slovenia, Budapest, & Albania, Florida, Colorado, New England, the deep South, and of course, around Texas. Our trips are sometimes with Sid's siblings & spouses, & always independent travel, usually for a month or more.
We adopted our little dog Lucky in February 2015 & he has gone with us on most driving vacations. This past May-June we had our first house sitter, a friend of Sid's sister, and she was WONDERFUL! In addition to caring for Lucky, she took care of our plants & trees as the hot Texas sun began to make it's appearance.
We had awesome housesitters from Canada for 4 weeks in December.
We will be at our grandson's high school graduation in Charlotte, NC for two weeks in June, 2019. We are asking for a housesitter for those weeks, approximately June 6 - June 20.
We welcome the right person(s) to our home.
We are a smoke-free home. For those with allergies, we have all tile floors. Our home is on one level with no stairs, easily accessible for those with mobility challenges.
Our home is a 2-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, 2400 square foot home with an additional Music Room.
We have a 2-car garage with one space open for your vehicle. Use of our vehicle may be discussed. We also have a golf cart which may be used. We live on the 11th fairway of Lighthouse Golf Course in Kingsland. Our covered patio is large & our views are stunning. Our living room includes a gas fireplace with remote control.
There is no cable TV, but we have approximately 6 channels including PBS, & we have streaming capability through Amazon Prime. We also rent Netflix movies. The guest bedroom with queen bed & bath is available for house sitters. Use of the Master Bedroom with King bed may be discussed.
Kingsland is a community of around 6,000 people. It is eclectic, with massive lake homes, homes of emptynesters & retirees who have moved to the area, & local families. We have an HEB grocery store, pharmacy, fitness club, several restaurants, some fast food places, & lots of Mom & Pop shops - bakeries, deli, massage therapists, etc. Many churches are in the area of various denominations.
Kingsland is in the Highland Lakes area of Hill Country on one of 7 lakes, Lake LBJ. There is more to do than you can imagine. There is hiking, swimmin' holes, boating, wineries, distilleries, a great deal of live music & more. In our area of 4 towns, Kingsland, Marble Falls, Burnet & Llano, you can find big box stores, movies, bowling, YMCA & other fitness clubs & the best BBQ around. Austin is an hour away (80 minutes to the airport). San Antonio is 90 minutes away (close to 2 hours to the airport). The Texas Wine Road & Fredericksburg, 55 minutes away, are tourist attractions.
After 9 years, Sid & I still pinch ourselves & say "we get to live here!"
We need basic care & loving on our doggy. Lucky is a 6-year-old whippet/terrier rescue dog. He needs to go out for a run on the golf course most evenings. By 'run', we mean: you walk along or take the golf cart & Lucky runs circles around you. Being part whippet, he is FAST! But he doesn't run away from you. We use a special brush on his coat, as he sheds. There is a cover on our couch & it should be taken off & washed, & a new one put on as needed. Also, vacuum three area rugs & dust mop as needed.
We have three houseplants that need watering every 10 days. The fountain in the courtyard is replenished of water about once a week. Sweep the front courtyard & back patio of bugs as needed. Most plants in our yard are drought tolerant, but there are a few that will need watering every few days.
