We are looking for someone to take care of our wonderful pets while we go away for about 5 weeks from .19. We very much prefer someone with some horse experience, as we have 4 of them.
You must be non-smoker, responsible and clean; we expect to find happy, well-fed pets when we come back and the house in same condition as when we left it :)
Animals:
Taking care of our pets, which include a cat, two chicken coups, 4 good-natured horses, and a old, large, loving dog. The cat needs food and water; she has a cat-flap and can go in and out, as she please.
The horses also need food and water. The horses are outside 24-7, but if the weather is too bad with rain/snow and strong wind, they might need to go in the stables overnight. If they are going to be inside overnight there is the matter of taking them in and out from the paddock and mucking the stalls once a day - it takes about 30 minutes.
The chickens also need food and water, and some new bedding now and then; they will provide delicious eggs for you :)
The dog, will of course also need food and water, lots of affection and cuddles and a walk now and then. Our property is all fenced in and she can roam freely without any worries. When walking her in the forest she walks freely and does not chase any wild animals or the like, but is also used to wear a leash.
We have a few plants that would like a sip of water now and then.
House and area:
A beautiful, newly renovated house in the countryside of Northern Zealand. We have good central heating, a woodburning stove for hygge (cosiness), and all the usual amenities to be expected from a modern scandinavian home, incl. reliable, fast internet.
We have Denmark's newest national park (Kongernes Nordsjælland) in our backyard, mostly comprising of forest - here you can walk for hours. We often spot large groups of deer, birds of prey and hares on our walks. This is a great place to slow down and enjoy nature and the animals around you.
March is early spring, but can also be winter; temperatures can be from -5 to 10 degrees. Weather in Denmark is fickle; this year we had some beautiful months in late winter/early spring, with snow and unusually cold weather, but it may also be mild with sun or rain.
You can be in Hillerød in 20 minutes by public transport or in Copenhagen in about an hour. (By car a little faster, but in Copenhagen, parking is a nightmare and very expensive).
There's grocery shopping about 10 minutes away by car and a small store with snacks some bare essentials at the gasstation 3 minutes away.
You have to be around every day to look after the animals; you can of course go sightseeing as you please, but cannot be gone for, say 3 days, in a row. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them. It would be great if you can arrive a day or two before we leave so we can show you around, and tell you the ins and outs :)
