We are looking for a housesitter to care for our house, two cats, and house plants, from mid-December to mid-January. The cats are very friendly and responsibilities would include making sure they had food, water, cuddles, and a clean cat box and watering a few indoor plants 1-2 times a week. Otherwise, the time is yours to make the most of winter in Colorado.
Lyons is a charming town of 2,000 people 12 miles north of Boulder, Colorado and situated within a 20-25 minute drive to Boulder, Estes Park, Longmont, and Loveland and one hour to Denver, Fort Collins and Denver International Airport. For a small town access to open space for hiking and mountain biking is unparalleled and there are lovely coffeeshops and restaurants, and access to the St. Vrain river within walking distance of our home.
We have a 2,500+ squarefoot home with three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths on a 1/2 acre that adjoins open space in a beautiful neighborhood. There is a large light-filled kitchen stocked full of pots, pans, and cooking gagets; an office that affords two people room to work; a daylight basement with an extra bed, and beautiful views of rolling foothills from every window in the house. The house has a gas fireplace in the living room, a back porch with a table that has a gas-flame insert (aka fire-table) and a gas grill. Wifi works throughout the house and there is a large television with an Amazon firestick for media streaming.
Colorado winter weather can be variable. There may be nice weather in the 50-60 degrees fahreheit range or cold snowy weather, sometimes within days of each other. Be prepared for winter weather and driving in the snow. We live on a paved road, but it may not be maintained with a plow regularly. If weather were so bad you couldn't drive (which would be a rare event) it is a 10 minute walk to town where there are two markets for groceries and other supplies.
We offer you rent free living in a beautiful home to enjoy the holidays in one of the best spots on the Colorado Frontrange. We only request that you have your own vehicle if you would like to drive between communities. There is a public bus between Lyons and Boulder that runs on a commuter schedule if you do not have a car.
