We are two Kiwis and a Dog, living in a lovely two BR condo situated on the island of Grand Cayman.
We will be going home to New Zealand for approx. a month from twenty second of December two thousand and eighteen and arriving home on the evening of nineteenth January next year. We would like a couple, or two, who are all thirty years or older, to live-in and look after our dog Jessie and also water our indoor plants while we are away.
We would need at least one couple to arrive a day before we leave ( Friday twenty first December) so they can meet Jessie and learn her routine, show them around and answer any questions etc, and then leave a day after we come home (Sunday twentieth January next year). If there are two couples, then one will have to stay in a hotel for the one night before we leave and again stay in a hotel the day we get home. We highly recommend Sunshine Suites which is just down the road and is excellent.
Our Honda CRV vehicle is available to use providing that the gas is filled back up to full before we come back. This is on the understanding that we are dropped off at the airport and picked up from the airport when we get home. We would return the favour by picking the couple/s up from the airport and then dropping them back the day after we get back.
The couple would have to be competent in driving on the left hand side of the road.
If the dates that the couple/s would like to come are not exactly the same as ours, then we can negotiate and possibly get Jessie put in a doggie day care, but we'd rather not. There will be no charge while the couple/s stay here as they are looking after our dog and our plants.
Our rented condo has two bedrooms, one with a king size bed overlooking the canal and one with a queen size bed overlooking the carpark at the front of the condo. Gardeners maintain the grounds once a week, and the property manager looks after any maintenance issues, so you will just need to sit back and enjoy the Caribbean and Jess’s company. It has two bathrooms, one in the King size BR and one in the hallway near the queen size BR. There is a fully equipped kitchen, separate dining area, lounge area, patio area and a shared outdoor area (with the other tenants) on the dock next to the canal. We also have a large washing machine and dryer for your use located in cupboards near the entrance. All linen is provided, providing it is washed and cleaned and put back before you leave. Relax on the screened patio in the evenings with candles and hanging lights. Enjoy a paddle down the canal with one or both or our kayaks. We have one double and one single. Enjoy a sit-in evening watching a movie on our large TV using Netflix. You can walk down to the beach in about ten to fifteen minutes or the lovely Camana Bay retail area that has shops, cinema and restaurants. Christmas is our favourite time of year in the Grand Cayman. Its just beautiful, especially the local Camana Bay.
Our lovely dog Jessie is one and a half years old and is an indoors dog. She is sixty one pounds of a mixed breed of goodness knows what, but she looks and acts a lot like a miniature Irish Wolf Hound with a border collie colouring from her mother. She will need to be taken out to the toilet first thing after breakfast, (between seven am and nine am), around eleven am, around two to three pm, and after dinner at six or seven pm. She has three meals day, with lunch being around twelve to one pm or so. She needs a short walk after breakfast just up and down the road and around the block is fine, and then a good half an hours walk each evening, down to the park at the end of the street where she plays with her doggie friends (usually between the hours five fourty five pm and seven pm). Note we have a neighbourhood WhatsApp group you can join to keep in touch with Jessie’s doggie friend's owners whom she plays with at the park most weekday evenings, and every Thursday evening around six fifteen pm these doggie owners and their dogs descend on the park to have a doggie happy hour and loads of fun. Just wear lots of insect repellent. These friends on the WhatsApp group will be able to help with any challenges that might come up while we are away. We will also give you other emergency contacts just in case. Jessie will have to be taken to the toilet around nine to ten pm, and if you stay up later, just before you go to bed. She likes to sleep in the bedroom with you on her bed/pillow beside any bed on the floor. ie: she needs company. She loves the light game where we use a small laser light for her fun. This is her most favourite thing. She is also awesome at catching Frisbees, although it is hard to encourage her to hand the Frisbee back once she has retrieved it. Jessie is a sensitive thing and needs lots of love, hugs and fun but she manages if we go out for say a trip around the island and are away for three to four hours, but we wouldn't leave her for any longer than that. She loves, loves, loves walks/runs/swims at the beach, another one of her favourite pastimes, and chasing thrown coconuts in the sea. She needs to be bathed once a week. We usually bath her on a Sunday night, and spray her down with an outside hose on other days if she gets dirty, like after going to the beach. We also have a number of plants inside and outside on the patio that will need to be watered regularly. Please don
