We are a 60+ couple, non-smokers, vegetarians and gluten and milk free. We don't have any children, and our kitties are our beloved babies. We bought a house on the countryside only a couple of months ago, and we will now travel for the first time since we moved here, and are therefore looking for a sitter who would like to come and take care of our two cats in the Swedish countryside in November. The dates are approximately Nov. 21-Dec. 2.
Melissa, the brown tabby, is a rescue cat who was pregnant when she came to us, and Celeste, the black cat, was one of her kittens. Celeste is 3 and Melissa around 4 years. Melissa is still afraid of sudden movements and sounds, and she is scared stiff of confined spaces, which unfortunately means that she refuses to use the cat flap, although we think she knows exactly what it is for. Thus, she has to be let in and out.
We live in a small community (ca 500 people) 20 km north of Vimmerby in Småland, the town where our most famous children writer Astrid Lindgren was born. Our house is situated in the outskirts of the community and there are only two neighbor houses, otherwise we are surrounded by forest.
Our community has a smaller supermarket, a café, a library, and - an indoor swimming-pool! (Very unusual for such a small community)
There are buses to Vimmerby and back from ca 7 am. to 7 pm. except for week-ends, when there are no buses. So if you don't want to make long excursions in the surroundings and go away in the week-ends, there is actually no need for driving.
Please note that we have no living-room, no sofa, and no TV! But you can watch TV on the internet for free.
Instead of a living-room, we have two workrooms, so if you want to bring your laptop and come here to work, our house is perfect. We have a wifi internet.
We also have no king size bed, only two normal beds next to one another.
The nearest airport is Stockholms Skavsta, used by Ryan Air. For other flights, you need to fly to Stockholm and then take the train and bus.
Your responsibilities:
Feed the cats morning and evening.
Clean the litter boxes if they have been used.
Send us reports and photos and keep us updated.
Empty the mailbox.
There are no plants to water.
We only accept non-smokers, and it is a plus if you are a vegetarian/vegan.
When you leave, we expect our home to be as clean and tidy as when you came.
