We are looking for a mature, responsible, non-smoking couple (preferably) or single to look after our home for the winter. Our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom rancher is close to a grocery store/liquor store/Canadian Tire and within walking distance to the beach and downtown Parksville. The kitchen was renovated a few years ago and the flooring is laminate throughout the main living and office areas. In fact, due to a dish walker leak this during, the flooring and dishwasher were just replaced this summer. The bathrooms have new vinyl and the 2 bedrooms are carpeted.
If you like to bike, we are in a good location for biking trips to Qualicum Beach, Coombs, Errington, etc. There is also bus service available at the nearby mall.
As no pet sitting is involved ( we take our senior dog with us) we ask our house sitters to pay utility costs of $600/month, which includes the cost of electricity (we have electric baseboard heating),water/sewer/garbage/recycling, gas water heater, satellite cable (3 HD TV's), high speed wireless internet, and tv. We ask only occasional mail pick up (mailbox is across the street and we get most correspondence electronically) ) and VERY occasional weeding/lawn-mowing during the winter time if possible. We will not negotiate on the price as we find the cost of heating has really gone up in recent years.
Due to allergies, we require housesitters who do not have pets with them.
We normally return to Parksville during the first week of April. Our departure date of October and the exact date of our return can be determined later. We have friends nearby (former housesitters) who can help out with check in/ check out and other information if needed.
