We are flying to the States for Christmas after our first year living in Switzerland. We love it here, and so do our three large ginger tabbies (ages 15, 7, and 6 all in good health). We have science/engineering backgrounds with an eclectic library, a love for cooking and kitchen gadgets, and a soft spot for videogames and boardgames, all of which you're welcome to use as long as you put it away when you're done. We like it quiet and don't travel too much, so we take our annual Christmas vacation very seriously.
We live in Bussigny, which is a very short train ride away from French-speaking Lausanne, Switzerland and all the shopping and sights it has to offer. Our apartment building sits high on a hill so you have a great view of the town, the nearby countryside, and the Alps from our large balcony. You can even see Mont Blanc on a clear day, as well as a bit of Lac Leman. There is a nature trail with both paved and wood-chip paths within easy walking distance (includes a parkour vita). There are several options for groceries within 10 minutes walking, and there are several restaurants within the same 10 minutes (pizza, good chinese, others). All of this in a small, quiet neighborhood with children playing nearby from time to time.
We live in a modern construction apartment building with an elevator, two bathrooms, and our own washer and dryer you can use. You are welcome to stay in our guest room with an American sized double bed, or the couch pulls down into an other double mattress as well. The living room is bright, and the kitchen is large and well stocked with mostly American and a few Swiss appliances you are welcome to use.
If you plan to do any sight-seeing or traveling while you stay, you probably want a bus/train pass, as we're a convenient 10 minutes walk from the train station, with 3-4 trains to Lausane each hour. We'd love to have you.
