1st note: exact departure/return dates may be flexible, as we’re taking a road; which allows us, at this point, to make minor adjustments to accommodate your scheduled availability.
We are looking for a House Sitter to begin sometime in May primarily to care for our two indoor/outdoor cats. Also, to keep our home tidy, and to fill-in caring for the yard. We do have some irrigation and monthly yard maintenance, so yard responsibility will be minimal. There is a kitty door that allows the cats to come and go during the day. They need to be kept in at night and allowed out again first thing in the morning. note: We are somewhat new to House Carers. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
This recently upgraded Ranch Style 3bd/2bth home is located in a little-known area, an escape from the city, with something for everyone. Everywhere is view property in Tehachapi. Take advantage of our large back patio, to Bar-b-Q & dine or just to lounge on the patio furniture or in the jacuzzi 'Softub' (maintained seasonally only). We have Wi-Fi and stream programing on our 54" tv in the living room. There is a fireplace in the den and a separate area to dine.
Our home is located in a country setting, in the east Golden Hills Community, it is only 2 miles from the center of town and the two major grocery stores are less than that. Tehachapi is a small bike friendly, tourist town historically known for the only east/west running mountain range in California, and the Tehachapi Train Loop.
You'll find our small-town center very walkable, whether strolling around the shops or one of the local museums during the day or after dinner you may wish to catch a movie at the Hitching Post theater or attend a play at the beautifully restored art deco Bee Kay Theater playhouse. In town and locally there are many antique and thrift shops and a variety of restaurants with many tasty eats including ethnic foods.
Also, in the greater Tehachapi valley you’ll find an u-pick farms and orchards, hiking trails, and Bright Lake Recreation park. You may also enjoy scheduling a private tour with the Adorable Alpacas or even to pop in a visit at the Mountain Spirt Zen, Buddhist Temple and gong the bell or choice one of the other local destinations.
Tehachapi has also become a destination for wine enthusiasts, with half a dozen wineries within the valley, many offer live music as well as food & non-alcoholic drinks on the weekends. Also, there are a couple of craft breweries in town that host entertainment including trivia nights.
While there is much to explore locally there are also a multitude of day trips available from this location. Such as, old town Kernville or the southernmost grove of Seqouia, 'Trail of 100 Giants'. There is Red Rock Canyon, Death Valley National Park, and many more points of interest. Downton ‘Hatch” hosts a tourist building in town where you can find more information.
