We are looking for someone to come and live in our home at the base of Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver and take care of our 8 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Pax. We will be gone for 9 days in the Rockies. We will not be reachable by or cell for most of the time that we are away, however we have family members close by in case of emergencies.
Pax does not like to be alone, so we are looking for housesitters that will either take him with them on any adventures or hang around the house. He is crate trained so he can be left periodically (once or twice a week) for 3 to 4 hours if needed.
Pax is pretty relaxed and likes to snuggle and be close to people, so we want someone who enjoys that. He is friendly with people and almost all dogs.
He needs between 3 and 4 walks a day - 3 of them are short (10 to 15 minutes) and one long (1 hour) one. He is up for adventures and will happily go on longer hikes - 3 to 4 hours easily. He is good off leash but is mostly deaf so you need to keep him within sight so he knows where you are. He sleeps in a crate at night and generally puts himself to bed around 10 pm. He sleeps in until about 8:30 most mornings but would happily get up earlier.
Our 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home is peaceful and relaxing. We have a huge deck off the dining room set in the forest that is great for hanging out. There is a creek that cuts across our property and the sound drowns out most of the city noise. We are very close to downtown and at the base of the North Shore mountains. There are plenty of parks and great hikes nearby. There are a few off-leash parks nearby and we are a short drive to the beach.
There is a BBQ on the deck. We are a vegetarian household so not set up to cook meat on the stove inside because there is no exhaust hood. Cooking meat on the BBQ or in the oven works better.
