Our home has also been our historic inn. The building is a very large, 90'x40', historic, 1922 building on the State Historic Register, the Coal Heritage Trail, and has a balcony, front porch, 14 guest rooms, a dining room, and many other rooms, as well!
Our situation is unique, in that my husband will probably be here; if this works out we may be able to finally have a holiday, too! I am also a Disaster Response Task Force Lead, and I need to be able to take deployments, and I do not want my husband alone here, as we have no neighbors.
We have not had any guests at our inn since 2020, as my husband was under cancer treatment (he is cancer-free now: YAY!), and we lost our help when the Covid situation started, and were unable to replace them. We are looking for a house sitter or a couple who would like to stay here, and help us out, as needed.
We have high speed internet, so you could work remotely. There are a lot of fun things to do in this very rural area, including fly-fishing (catch-and-release) for trout right at the Inn on Elkhorn Creek, railfanning (trainspotting and train photography) right at the Inn, ATVing to 100s of miles of trails, birdwatching, golf, hiking, etc.
We have 3 dogs and one indoor cat, and they are very spoiled, as someone is here all the time! We have a lot of plants; they are inside in the winter, and go outside on the front porch in the spring.
Basically the only things that need to be done are taking care of the pets, watering the plants, and cleaning. If you do any work, such as helping Dan with maintenance issues, we would pay for that, and agree on the price before you started any work. Please feel free to ask me any questions, as we want our house sitter(s) to be happy here!
