We are a recently retired couple loving to travel. We are looking for house/garden-sitting while we are away from August 11, 2023 to September 22, 2023. Our house is in Chapel Hill, NC but just a 10-minute drive from downtown and is surrounded by trees and trails but conveniently located 1 miles only from Wholefoods/Trade Joes etc.. 20 min from Lake Jordan, 2 hours from the beach (Wilmington, NC) and 3h30 from Asheville.
Our house, though imposing from the street, is warm and welcoming on the inside. It is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac in the trees. It has been lovingly remodeled and decorated by Barbara, with art and sculptures from her French artist mother. We have invested as much TLC in the landscape as we have in the house, and our fervent wishes is that anyone living here would love and care for our plants as they would any living being (though we have no pets). We spend many peaceful hours on our bedroom terrace, our large deck and our screened porch, enjoying the flying circus of birds that visit our feeders. We linger in bed in the morning with coffee, watching the birds just outside our window (cardinals, hummingbirds, goldfinch, res-bellied woodpeckers, bluebirds, blue jays, etc). We have beautiful views of the garden, and even baby deers (but keep them out of our plants! Our 2,900 sq feet house is two levels: a Queen room and Shower/bath, music and sitting room, office, gourmet kitchen and large den with bay windows on the garden and a covered porch. Upstairs has 3 bedrooms/2 beautifully renovated baths and an upper deck for morning coffee. All upscale amenities and more, hard wood floors, Fiber, AC etc. We have automatic irrigation, but in the hot summer, our garden/plants will likely need special hand watering (with hoses). We are looking for someone who likes nature and has a green hand to see what is needed based on the weather. No dogs, not pets to care for, just plants! Looking for someone present and be watchul for any anomalies (leaks, appliances failures etc..).
