Hi! I'll be traveling June 10-22, 2023 and need a single person or a couple who would be interested in pet and house sitting! Custard, my 16 year old Chihuahua rescue, and I live in Bernal Heights-- a quaint, beautiful neighborhood in SF. My cozy "cottage-style" home is a one bedroom in-law attached to a small single family home on top on a beautiful hill tucked back from the bustle of the busy streets of the Mission district.
Bernal Heights is one of the best kept secrets in SF: Built on bedrock, many of the homes survived the 1906 quake! Our side of the hill faces West and has lovely views of the lower Mission and the Twin peaks hill. Our hills are robust, so someone who is used to walking and hiking is necessary, as well as comfort with "European style streets" to maneuver driving and parallel parking! A car is not necessary, however: The bus is very accessible 2 blocks to the North, or 3 blocks to the West, which will give you easy access to the BART trains to traverse the city. Walking distance to cute shops, delicious restaurants and artisan markets.
Custard just needs 1-2 walks a day: He walks for about min depending on his mood-- sniffing at a slow pace would be a better description :) I usually end up picking him up and carrying him home in his backpack or sling bag that I bring with me. He does take meds for his heart twice a day, but he's comfortable at home for 4-6 hours at a time alone-- although he loves to be included in outings and is very well behaved sitting in his travel backpack while out at lunch spots or a local wine bar ;) He is very social with humans but is a bit of a loud mouth when it comes to other dogs... he requires a leash at all times when out.
I have some plants to get watered, but other then that, this is a great opportunity to hang out in a unique neighborhood in iconic SF and explore museums, eclectic food, live music, or just take walks up to our lovely Bernal Hill behind our house and have a picnic overlooking the entire Bay! Bring your walking shoes and a few warm layers, and explore our little city!
