I am offering my comfortable, safe and beautiful studio apartment in Oakland, San Francisco Bay Area. I'd like to take a vacation sometime this summer for up to two weeks between the dates specified in my ad.
My building was first named "Mary Smith Home for Friendless Girls". It was designed by architect Julia Morgan in 1904 as one in a group of buildings to house pregnant and orphaned young women. Now it's a 20 unit apartment building, mostly studios. The courtyard is kept beautifully lush and floral. Most people in the building are pet guardians.
I happily host vegan or vegetarian guests. If you aren't either, I ask that refrain from cooking meat in the house during your stay. If you want to order meat from a restaurant to eat in, that is ok! You can cook food including eggs and cheese in the house using my dishes.
It's a small studio with everything you need. There are two separate doors to the outside. One going to a courtyard and one going to the back of the building. There's an enclosed semi-private wildish garden/ yard to the building that I can give you a key to. There is a small table and chairs where you can drink coffee and hang out with my dog and cat.
Both my pets are under 10lbs and approximately 13 yrs old. I can arrange for a dog walker or sitter if you want to leave for an extended period. The daily routine would include scooping litter (1x per day min), feeding (1x per day min) and walking (2x per day min + one quick potty), and brushing teeth (1x per day min- if you can't brush teeth we can come up with an alternate solution) . My chihuahua is used to sleeping in the bed at night, she is very cuddly and takes up very little room, it might be nice for someone travelling alone. My cat will likely sleep on the floor if they don't know you. They are both healthy seniors that prefer to rest most of the day. My chihuahua is calm, not a barker. Other than that, there are a few plants that could use some water every few days.
I live simply, I have a good kitchen for people who eat naturally including an instant pot pressure cooker, plant milk maker and Vitamix. I have two electric bikes, which I can let you use. I have a bigger Songy bluetooth speaker to use with your . I don't own a television, just a desktop computer and internet. There is a small collection of books.
I live within walking distance of Lake Merritt, close to downtown, in "Cleveland Heights", on a quiet residential street with friendly neighbors. The Grand Lake Movie Theatre, Thai, pizza, Arizmendi Bakery, Peet's Coffee, Trader Joe's, bars and grocery stores are all within 1mi/1.5km. California's freshest vegetables and fruits, music and other goods are found every Saturday 9am-1pm at the Grand Lake Farmer's Market. A car is totally unnecessary, however there is plentiful street parking if you have one.
San Francisco is 10 miles away, a 20 to 45 min drive depending on traffic. 45 minutes using bus and BART (the subway). Other modes of transportation are GIG or Zip cars and rideshares.
