Hello. We are seeking a reliable, kind, dog lover to dog and house sit. Yama is the dog. She's friendly, good natured, and has an independent spirit requiring long walks on a leash.
Luckily, we are located on the edge of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument with hiking trails along the edge of the Rio Grande Gorge. Great sunsets, and to the east lie the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Our home is solar powered — solar electric, solar radiant floor heat, and solar heated water. We get sun most days even in the winter, yet, if it's cloudy for a more than a couple days in a row the hot water may not last, and the back-up generator may have to be used to keep the solar batteries charged. It's a cozy home with 20" thick walls, lots of light, an 18' x 18' open floor living/dining/kitchen, a small bedroom with a queen bed, and a bathroom with a cast iron bathtub and washing machine in the closet.
It's only a 20 minute drive to downtown Taos, New Mexico, a quainte western town with live music, many galleries and museums, historical buildings, and the Taos Pueblo. Please look it up online — it's a destination worth visiting.
There's plenty of open space out here on the Mesa, yet neighbors are within sight. A 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle is necessary when ther roads get muddy, which can happen anytime of the year. The Mesa is quiet, peaceful, and the night skies add to the amazing beauty.
