We are looking for someone to house sit and care for two dogs near Austin, Texas, the week after Christmas while we check off a long time bucket list trip to Australia. Due to our initial plans for the house and dogs being met with some unforeseen circumstances, we are very grateful for inquiries considering the late timing of this post.
** Please note: We have made flexible arrangements for someone to house and dog sit from the dates of January 1, 2023-January 11, 2023, but are certainly open to discussion if you are interested in potentially extending your stay beyond December 31, 2022.
The House:
- Well kept and comfortable 3 bedroom home on a beautifully decorated street full of holiday cheer in the Austin suburbs of Round Rock. Located between Austin and Georgetown, there is plenty nearby to experience by way of dining, entertainment, outdoor activities, and more. Alternatively, you'll be removed enough from city centers to take some undisturbed time to yourself should you so choose. The home is also a short drive from all the necessities, with easy access to the major highways as well. Aside from keeping some low-maintenance plants and the grass alive (thanks, unpredictable Texas "winters"), the house doesn't generally require much maintenance on a day-to-day basis and is surrounded by helpful neighbors should anything out of the ordinary pop up.
- A quick, non-inclusive list of amenities:
• Fast and reliable Wi-Fi
• Multiple streaming subscriptions
• Covered back patio with TV, comfy seating, space heater, dart board, and cornhole (great area to hang out year-round, highly recommend)
• Indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit
• All the cookware/appliances you'd need to do your own cooking the entire stay
• A number of connected smart devices, which is mostly worth mentioning here just because it's really nice to adjust the temperature from bed this time of year
The Dogs: senior Australian Kelpie (we believe) mix and 1-year-old Labradoodle. The senior dog requires daily medication (pills) but otherwise naps and lounges around most of the day enjoying the twilight years. Once she knows you'll be there for a while and aren't just dropping off Amazon packages, she'll engage and do some tricks for treats, as well as give the young dog a run for his money from time to time when he wants to play. The Labradoodle is potty trained, kennel trained, and a snuggler. He's a ton of fun and will play for as long as you'd like, but also warms up quickly and is not afraid to cuddle up on the couch for a movie. Aside from the older dog's meds, their primary daily needs are mostly just company and to be let outside throughout the day. Both are great on a leash and enjoy walks together, although the Kelpie's walks are quite a bit shorter than the Labradoodle's these days.
We are more than happy to answer any questions and can make accommodations to the best of our ability. Thank you for your attention and consideration during this time crunch - again, any inquiries with a good fit are greatly appreciated. Happy holidays!
