INTRODUCTION
We are looking for a responsible couple to look after our 2 dogs and home in the country for 4 weeks from January 19 - Febuary 20, 2023. Our home is a renovated and restored Century home near the Niagara escarpment in southern Ontario. We have 2 great dogs, Chimo and Nukka, who are also were Therapy Dogs with St. John's Ambulance. Even though they are both seniors, they love their walks and lots of attention. But they also sleep a lot too!
An active, caring and diligent couple who love dogs and enjoy the outdoors will be the best fit to house sit.
HOME & DOGS
We live west of Milton, Ontario in the country on 25 acres of mostly farmed land. Great views, gardens and lots of privacy. We are about an hour from Toronto and Niagara Falls. We are minutes from many conservation areas on the Niagara escarpment and the Bruce Trail, a 800 km hiking trail that runs along the escarpment. We also have a great trail around our property. So if you like the outdoors and quiet, you will love our country home and great dogs. Some of the most beautiful days are the ones with crisp white snow and blue sunny skies. Snowshoeing right out the back yard!
Our home has a large, renovated country kitchen, wrap around porch, 2 bedrooms, an exercise room and office, 2 bathrooms and large dining room with a fireplace. The large living room has a wood fireplace that heats the house, along with a heat pump furnace. The fireplace provides for a wonderful, cozy environment. Included is Wifi, satellite TV, Amazon Video and Netflicks.
Shops, grocery stores, restaurants are all within minutes away. Ideally you will have your own car. No smoking!
RESPONSIBILITIES
Care of our precious dogs, including regular walks around the property and at local conservation areas (pass included). Regular communication during the house sit. Must not leave the dogs alone for extended periods of time. Overall taking car e of the house including light house keeping and plant watering. A very detailed manual has been created covering all aspects of the house and dogs.

It is this homeowners' attention to detail that made all the difference and this sit a joy munication both prior to the beginning of the sit and during was prompt and precise. For example the day before Hallowe'en I asked via how many trick or treaters to expect. A reply arrived within a few hours from half way around the world. Another bonus was the homeowners reference binder filled with contact numbers and detailed information regarding the various aspects of the home itself. We hope to return one day for a repeat sit and highly recommend it to other house sitters.

The house owners, Bob and Gloria, are very well organized and made caring for their beautiful home and lovely dogs a breeze. Their friendliness and thoughtfulness made us feel at home immediately. We stayed over one night before they left which gave us ample time to get acquainted with the dogs and to be walked through their routines. They gave thorough instructions and had a detailed binder with notes about the dogs, maps of great conservation areas and walking trails; information on nearby restaurants, things to do and grocery stores; a list of all emergency contacts; and numbers for utilities/house services. Their quiet rural home is filled with beautiful antiques, a lovely wood-burning fireplace, and beautiful views of their extensive property, making it an idyllic location to enjoy winter in the country. The surrounding area is made for dog walking and yet the dogs are also content to run and play safely in their invisible fenced in yard. Chimo and Nukka are very laid back and friendly dogs who love to be in the room with their people companions but are never overly attention seeking. They have sweet temperaments and are each other's best friend.
Bob and Gloria went out of their way to help us feel comfortable in their home and were regularly checking in by to make sure all was well. This housesitting opportunity was a great experience and we feel like we made new friends in the process. We plan to keep in touch and we would happily house and dog sit for them in the future!

Gloria and Bob gave us a friendly, warm welcome and made us feel very comfortable. They understood that housesitting is a partnership, and wanted us to enjoy our time in their home as well as take care of it as well as they would. They provided us with a thorough tour of their property, giving us practical information along the way. The manual they created contained everything we needed to know in order to keep the house and gardens clean and secure, as well as details regarding the care of their two lovable, well-trained dogs.
