Can you care for my beautiful precious and vulnerable boy?
We are seeking a special pet house sitter for March 2023, and other dates to take care of our aging 8 yr old German Shepherd dog and to keep our home and garden maintained and tidy. We also have an elderly white cat and she requires feeding and mainly peace and quiet.
Our handsome boy is big tall at 56kg (8stone). He has been poorly with arthritis but still likes regular short walks and to play with you. He is a very affectionate good boy. Our small grandchildren command him with sign language and confidence and he always obeys them.
We are an early retired couple who wish to travel a few times a year whilst keeping our precious aging and sociable boy in his home environment with capable caring dog lovers.
We have already engaged out first international house sitters for 2022 and we are excited to meet a wonderful couple this Autumn.
We hope to offer a handover period and to stay on for a few days after we return as required.
Our historic cottage is adjacent to the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
In the immediate area there are endless walks, parks and places of historic and natural interest, many in very close proximity. These range from Roman baths and ruins at Caerleon, historic Iron Age hill forts, Norman Castles at Raglan, Cardiff and Caerphilly. Norman Abbeys at Llantony and Tinten are close by, alongside Welsh Industrial Revolution heritage sites and the St Fagans museum of Welsh life. We have a plethora of medieval and beautiful villages at Usk, Monmouth, Abergavenny Caerleon.
There are several level access walks or cycle tracks that take you to Mamhillad and Newport.
Cwmbran train station is 10 mins walk. The Celtic Manor Golf Course which hosted the 2010 Ryder Cup is close by alongside the Welsh capital city Cardiff within 20 minutes journey by car or rail. Cardiff Bay an international tourism site boasting many historic buildings, quality restaurants, museums, a theatre, opera house are all within a beautiful bay waterfront.
Wales coastline boasts blue flag beaches and outstanding landscapes and yet more castles. Slightly further afield is the Brecon Beacons National Park and Snowdon at Llanberis, slate mines, narrow gauge railways, Portmeireon surreal village, outdoor recreational trails or picturesque mountains and coastal towns such as Tenby and Llandudno.
A warm Welsh welcome awaits you in our quaint chocolate box cosy restored cottage which benefits from an inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove. The cottage is very comfortable throughout. Our place is set canal front in a third of an acre of beautiful lawns. flower gardens and a large vegetable plot with greenhouse.
The Wi-Fi and tech extensions provide coverage inside and outside for working at home and keeping in touch. Outside there are open and covered seating areas and a cosy summerhouse to watch the wildlife.
Wildfowl sleep on the lawns and many species of birds visit us. We have wild flightless Khaki Campbell ducks who decided to come to live on our lawn and many moorhens and mallards who follow me around the garden.
There is always something to watch on the canal. Canal barges mooring or canoeists and paddle boarders. There are canal barge hire companies close by and quaint historic tearooms. Occasionally flotillas and community events take place here. It is a peaceful place in its own grounds on the edge of open lush countryside, aside a village community and close to lager towns and the M4 corridor.
We look forward to contact from prospective house and pet sitters who are interested in staying in our unique home in Wales UK and who will love and care for our home and animals.
