ife experience is more important than actual experience as a pet-sitter. The fish are low maintenance but the cats require daily water & attention (have automatic catbox). There are others in the building who could cover if you needed to arrange to be out for a day or two. There are shared areas of the building (i.e. laundry room and stairwell) and all of the residents are vaccinated; house-sitters are required to be fully covid-vaccinated.
Cats, fish, plants, mailbox, and (weekly) garbage, compost, and recycling carts to the curb. While this is not a factor in Spring, in Fall the raking and containerizing of chestnuts and leaves may be required for 3 large street-trees. While this is not difficult, it does take some time. This apartment is in a 5-plex which we manage; very minor communication and cooperation may be required in case needs arise in the building. All of the tenants are long-term and primarily communicate with us directly.
Property features: The unit is a roomy 1,200+ SqFt with 3 bedrooms (1 queen bed and one full-size futon bed (see photos) with a comfortable spring mattress. The unit has two balconies and shares a large patio with the neighbors in the building. There is excellent public transportation. Great walking area in lovely turn-of-the-century neighborhood. Close to a mall, PO, coffee, restaurants & services. Walkscore rates the address as: Very Walkable with a Excellent public transit and rates it as a Biker's Paradise for flat terrain and bike lanes.
Considerations: Our unit is on the 2nd floor without elevator and the laundry is in the basement, so good mobility is a must. Animals will need daily care (though the other residents are available to stand in if you want to be out a few days.) In Fall, there may be some raking of chestnuts and leaves. Full covid vaccination is required. There is no smoking on the property. We are centrally located in a walking neighborhood with great public transportation so some sitters may not find it necessary to have a personal car. This is a trade situation; beyond providing housing we do not pay sitters. We can be flexible about a Sitter arriving a few days early or leaving a few days late as we can provide private lodging a few blocks away. We arrange to have time for a full, in person orientation.
