Our cat needs a gentle companion while we're away this fall.
Come stay with a very special creature in beautiful Kula, Maui, at the end of a culdesac in a serene neighborhood. At a 2700 foot elevation we have fewer bugs and less humidity than other parts of the island. It's a 3 bedroom, 3 bath house with many sweet amenities. You will enjoy a large, private backyard with a huge patio (perfect for yoga or roller skating), and proximity to many hikes and beaches. While we're in a neighborhood, we do have total privacy (just in case in want to sunbathe in the nude haha). In addition to the main house, there is, on this 1 acre gated property, a cottage where our tenant of 5 years lives. She will be glad to help you with anything you may need assistance with but will otherwise leave you alone. We don't have an ocean view, but we do have a forest and mountain view and other than the cottage, you really don't see any other houses or power lines or roads. From the backyard you don't even see the cottage.
We are looking for someone to care for our beloved, ultra-sensitive cat. She's 6 years old but spent the first 9 months of her life in the shelter and carries some residual but pretty major PTSD. She tends to hide under the bed for a week when a new man comes to the house, but warms up to the ladies more quickly. We will consider the right gentleman, though. After some initial hesitation on her part, she'll be the sweetest and cuddliest cat you may ever meet. She has defiitely slept next to housesitters in the past. We think having just one person would be easiest for her to adjust to as she really values quiet. She will definitely (but politely) demand a daily brushing. She is a very late sleeper, so you won't need to wake up early to feed her. She's indoor / outdoor and hardly ever uses the cat box. Super low maintenance overall but she does need someone who is patient, sensitive, quiet, and will flow with her routine (snacks at 4pm).
We do also have some plants that will require watering, and mail to bring in. There are fruit trees (fig, banana, blood orange, lemon, avo) and if they're producing then you can of course eat your fill. Lawn care is optional. We have a mower and there isn't too much to mow, but if you don't want to do this part we can hire someone.
The reason it says 3-6 weeks is that we do have a friend who can come for the first 3 weeks, but if we find someone who can do all 6, we may opt for that as it would be less disruptive for Mrs. Goo. If you could do all 6 weeks, the start date would be Oct 18 or 19.
