The apartment is located in an old but fully renovated Swiss farmhouse on what could be called the ground floor. It is all on one level with 2 bedrooms, an office, an open kitchen and a big bathroom. Its location is rather central in Kandersteg but also in a quiet and sunny location. Surrounded by the mountains it is a 5 min walk to the Oeschinensee Cable Car, a 7 min walk to the railway station and a 5-6 min walk to the shops. Several supermarkets within 15min drive and with a bakery, pharmacy in the village as well as little but "has everything"grocery store. Kandersteg has a good variety of restaurants and a great tearoom. There is ample space to park your car. Of course, there is the option for winter sports (snow permitting) and great walks, climbs and mountaineering.
I am a single professional who loves living in the mountains, but needs to travel on a regular basis for work. This can be for a few days to two weeks in a row. As travel is regularly I hate to put my pets in a kennel every time. I am Dutch. Came to live in Switzerland some 21 years ago.
Besides the pets the flower pots inside and outside (in the summer period) need watering. In the apartment nothing special; every day up-keeping. There is a dishwasher as well as a washer and dryer. I have a cleaning lady who comes once a week.
Dickens, Widgeon and Pepper are typical Golden Retrievers and love to please. Fairly easy in all situations. Pepper is the 3rd dog in the pack and sometimes like to try out to be alpha (in a pleasant way) when walking outside. Widgeon is the young one (born 5th February and more or less out of his puberty, can be boisterous at times - a firm correction is needed at times. Dickens is a stable alpha dog who is more independent than the other two and loves to roam well ahead of the pack. Dickens, Widgeon and Pepper listen well in general and are used to walk both on a leash and without. Pepper normally walks mostly off the lead except along the main street. All are comfortable with car drives. The love their (minimum) 3 walks a day (morning, afternoon and evening).
Chikita is a rescue cat (female) and lived her first 11 years with an older lady until the lady moved to a retirement home. After 6 weeks in a cat refugee, I picked her up in mid-November She is comfortable with the dogs. She is very cuddly and likes lots of attention as well as sleeping. She can go outside by herself and is exploring that option from time to time.
Teddy came as a 6 months old from a rescue home together with Chikita. Teddy doesn't like living inside and is most of the time outside. He is now staying around longer, eats inside, sometimes sleeps inside as long as the door stays open. Teddy is skittish and will not allow to be approached or to be touched.
