We are looking for a house & dog sitter (ideally a couple) to be in our Georgian town house in the middle of the market town of Pickering in North Yorkshire. The house is just 100 yards from the market place, which has a good collection of small shops, cafes, pubs, eating places etc, and just 150 yards from Pickering Castle, from where walks are almost limitless. Recently completely renovated, the house is very comfortable, with every bedroom having its own bathroom; the kitchen has an Aga as well as a modern multi-purpose oven/microwave combo. The main living room has a wood burner for cooler evenings and the whole house has high speed wifi for those who work from home. Our dogs are gentle, friendly and totally undemanding. They love just to lie close to human company and doze, and they require only one (morning) walk each day. Neighbours are wonderful and very supportive, thus allowing sitters, if they want, to take days out to see nearby attractions such as York, Whitby, the North York Moors etc etc. Pickering even has its own heritage steam railway that runs through the moors to Whitby. A car is not really required in Pickering, since everything you need (from doctors, vets and dentists through to supermarkets, pharmacies, cafes, banks, eating places, pubs etc) are no more than a 5 minutes walk away from the house, and if sitters wish to come by train, we'll collect and deliver. The nearest station is Malton (a 15 minute drive from Pickering).
