We are looking for a housesitter to stay at our country house from June 16-24th and look after our lovable and goofy whippet, Holmes. Since it's summer, we would also kindly ask you to look after the garden-just basic watering and keeping an eye on things.
We need you to be able to arrive the 16th (anytime) because our train is early morning on June 17th. And we will return by train around 11 pm on June 23rd so we ask you to stay until the 24th (unless you have your own transport and want to leave near midnight!).
We can come pick you up if need be from the nearest trains/airports.
We have a two level house in a very quiet hamlet (the end of the road is a dead-end) in a small town in the department of Correze, France. There is a very good butcher/bakery and small convenience store within walking distance. Lots of walking trails right from the driveway.
The house has central heating (no air con but a fan if it's very hot-normally nights are cool), Apple TV and strong wifi. It's a fully equipped house with 3 bedrooms total. We will provide you with one of the bedrooms.
Outside we are currently building a terrace. Not sure it will be completed by the time you come but there is a lovely area outside to take your meals, a BBQ, plancha etc-lots of chairs to relax in. We also have an upper level balcony you can take your meals on.
Holmes is an energetic, playful (almost!) 2 year old whippet. He needs at least one walk a day (although he prefers two) and to be fed twice a day. He loves to play and needs to run at least once a day but he also knows how to relax and is a master cuddler and sleeper. He adores catching his frisbee and is always up for anything.
The property is fenced in-so he can be let out to do his business just from the door. One of the neighbors has a golden retriever who comes over to play with Holmes and this is a great way for him to run around and get some of his energy out.
In addition to the care of Holmes, there are a few plants inside the house-just ensure that they have a bit of water. And as I mentioned, the garden in the summer. Some flowers and roses and the vegetable and herb garden. Of course, you can help yourself too while you are here!
The area of Correze is green, lush, and hilly. There are nice small, medieval towns to discover. In general, it's quiet and peaceful with lots of hiking. If you are looking for big city life, this is not your place. If you like nature, quiet and good food, then you will be happy here.
We have an old car for you to use but since it's an older car, we ask you don't go far-just for the necessities and to discover some nearby places. There is no power steering in the car just to warn you! But she is a solid car. If you want to explore the region, best to have your own car.
We are an American/French couple, easy going and eager to hear from you! Let us know if you can be available. Thanks!
