We will be traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday and are looking for a trustworthy, responsible, and cat-friendly housesitter to keep our very sweet cat, Bella, company while we are gone.
Bella's main needs are food and litter scooping. She has multiple water fountains and will likely just come to you for snuggles and affection once or twice a day. Feel free to brush and play with her if you like (she enjoys both), we keep all of her cat toys and accessories in the living room.
Our home is in the Redwood Heights area of Oakland (the map is off a bit), a hilly but walkable, quiet residential area with beautiful midcentury homes. You would enjoy the entire 3BR/3BA house, with a rarely used but very comfortable guest room and bathroom all to yourself. (Well, technically you'd get the entire house all to yourself! :))
I also have strawberries, bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes growing out front that you are welcome to water / harvest / enjoy, along with small lemon trees in our wooded backyard. (However, no gardening duties would be asked of you, especially during this time of year).
Because of our location, we do recommend a car for grocery or food runs; however, if you're ambitious and are up for a ~30-40 min walk, you can get to shopping areas - it's just that the walk home is mostly uphill or crosses busy traffic. We do have nice walking paths right out the door within our neighborhood along with Avenue Terrace Park and Playground about 7-10 min downhill, 15 min return. Joaquin Miller Park is just a 3 min drive; Chabot Space and Science Center, Oakland Zoo, Montclair Village & Farmers Market, etc. are all within a 5-10 min vicinity.
Open to couples or even young families depending on the situation, as we have a young toddler ourselves. We do take our shoes off inside and generally like to keep things tidy, and hope you would do the same. Thank you for considering our home and our space. I look forward to hearing from you!
