We are a Canadian couple who have been living in the USA now for four years. We often travel back home to see family and go on other trips around the world. In 2020 we got married and also got our two furbabies we nicknamed "The Beans". These fluffy cats are our whole hearts. Adam works in tech and Remy volunteers with local non-profits. We love good craft beer, gardening, and playing board/lawn games. We are on beer break for 2024 as we are pregnant and expecting our first baby later this year, YAY! Our house is as smart home as we can get it, as Adam loves to tinker with everything and make it all automated. Remy loves to work on the garden and make it feel like an enchanted getaway to relax in. Perfect for reading a book or hanging out!
For this sit happening June 1-9 we leave very early on the 1st and then come back the evening of the 9th. We would want the cat sitter to ideally come to the house before we leave to meet (either the day before or really early in the morning of before we head to the airport) to give a tour and the keys. If meeting before doesn't work then we can do a virtual tour and leave the keys for you. We can be flexible on the start date of day later (2nd) or end day a day earlier (8th), we can ask a neighbor to feed the cats on those days. If you do arrive early for the cat sit we ask that you find your own accommodations till you take over house sitting for us on the 1st, our comfort level is not to share the house overnight with you if you arrive early, we are sorry about this! We ask that you have departed our home on the 9th before we arrive back around 9pm. You can lock up and leave the keys in the secure area we tell you. If you can’t meet us before in person to get a tour and the keys we can e-meet and tell you where to pick up the keys we leave out for you.
Who are the cats? Jellybean (grey torbie) and Pinto Bean (orange tabby) or just “The beans” as we refer to them are 4 year old cats who are brother and sister littermates. They are total fluff balls of personality and love. They are very playful and affectionate with each other and humans. Both cats are good with being picked up. They are indoor cats. Jellybean wants all the pets and stomach rubs and is constantly purring and barrel rolling on the floor to get your attention to give more love. Pinto is super affectionate and wants scratches and cuddles. If you are sitting on the couch, they want to be on your lap getting pets. Pinto also has lots of play energy. Jelly is more of an introvert and Pinto is more the extrovert. Both are the nosy neighbors of the street and want to see every bird and person out the windows.
We are looking for…
-Either one person, a couple, or parents with older kids. No young kids as our cats have never been around kids before. You must disclose who all will be staying in the house and check with us first about guests.
-Must be smoke free and drug free, alcohol is okay though.
-Someone(s) who are responsible and can provide references. We will be checking these!
-Someone(s) that loves cats and have looked after them before or owned one before.
-For you to feed our cats wet food once a day, once when you wake up.
-Give our cats pets, love, and play with them.
-Send us updates/ pictures of the cats during your stay. We are looking for someone(s) who can be a good communicator during this visit. Every other day check in quick with a message, nothing huge just even a picture is good.
-You will need to change the litter 1 time maybe during your stay, we have a litter robot.
-Pick up our mail daily from the front of the house and take the garbage to the curb on Mondays
All About our Home
-Two-bedroom two bathroom house. The second bedroom is a makeshift office and has a pull-out couch. You are welcome to sleep in our bedroom.
-All the wifi and tech needs are here for you! Wifi extends through the whole backyard and house. Perfect for sitting outside and doing any work from home.
-We have a litter robot automatic feeder for the cats to help make looking after easier! You would just need to give them some wet food once a day.
-We have way too many lawn games and board games plus 6+ streaming movie sites for your use.
-Our home does have indoor and outdoor cameras and we can turn the indoor ones off or on based on YOUR preference. We would leave the outdoor cameras on. We would leave one indoor camera on that is on the floor area facing the cat food left (it only picks up the cats eating, and we can show you what the feed looks like so you feel more comfortable that it is not capturing an image of you).
-Total backyard oasis with hammock, mini orchard, BBQ, fire pit, foosball, workout area, dining set, conversation set, and umbrella.
-San Mateo has very sunny and warm weather in the summer and fall, our backyard is protected from wind more which makes it even nicer to hangout in. In December it can be a bit cooler and some rain but still sun during the day time, just depends on the weather if its warmer or not. Think Fall coat in December.
-We are located near the very cute downtown San Mateo are such short distances to all things San Francisco and Bay area.
-If you are coming with a camper or caravan please let us know the size as we have a narrow driveway and lower hanging wires so we need to make sure it would fit.
Our home is:
-a 10minute walk to the San Mateo Caltrain station (30-minute train ride into downtown San Francisco)
-a 10-minute car ride to SFO
-a 5-minute walk into downtown San Mateo (which has so many restaurants and a luxury movie theatre)
-a 20-minute walk to the bay (great windsurfer watching, fishing, walks)
-5-minute drive to a sandy beach at Coyote Point
-Lots of hiking opportunities in the bay area
-25-minute drive to Half Moon Bay and it's amazing postcard worthy beaches
