We're an empty nest (usually) couple in our 60s, male partner working flat out in academia, female partner semi-retired from plant research field. House is big semi-detached near park in lovely downtown east Toronto neighbourhood. We usually spend summer months away from Toronto and usually take our 2 dogs and usually have family living in the basement flat who can house-sit, but this year, 2021, the dogs can't travel with us and young tenants have gone home and away. This explains the short-notice and vague away dates. Ideal would be to find kind, willing, experienced person/people to live in with dogs and care for them. We also have a mad-but-dear cat and an interactive aquatic turtle in need of care.
Comfy, cluttered family home since 2006. Two decks, on ground and top floors. Choice of 3 bedrooms on middle floor. Near park, shops, trail to beach. Use of bicycle.
Our away dates are approximate at the moment of posting. The dogs are used to 2 hour-long walks per day, bigger dog would be good for longer and smaller dog gets very excited about going out then plods along as if her feet hurt. The rest of the time they can be let out back (where they have to be cleaned up after periodically, and kept from digging). Big dog's shedding is the main source of house mess. The cat's bowl is kept full and out of reach of the dogs; turtle gets peas or pellets mornings and her tank cleaned every 2-3 weeks. Mad cat uses litter box and also - unless caught in the act - planters on the top deck. There should be beans, squashes and tomatoes growing copiously on the top deck that will need watering, and some other plants to keep well. Usual minimal house activities like putting out garbage/organics/recycling, collecting post in a box, possibly cleaning/replacing the furnace filter, and communicating with us over anything at all. Smaller dog might need vet appointment to renew rabies.
