We need someone to care for our 10 year old rescue terrier mix named Daisy (she is protective of property which can be a challenge with package delivery services or visitors). She loves to go for long walks on our property and in certain circumstances be let off leash. She is our biggest challenge in finding a sitter as she needs someone who is experienced with rescue animals and is very patient. If you are the right fit she will be your best friend and make you laugh but she may nip at your ankles first. We have been workin with her and find that she has been doing better with new people with the use of intentonal training.
She has her own doggy door so comes and goes doing her business at will. She has been diagnosed with mass cell tumors and takes a medication willingly with a treat twice a day. We do not, however, need you to be at home with her all day and there are many things you can do with her or on your own in the area.
We will have someone coming to mow our 3 acre lawn ever couple of weeks while we are away.
There are also a few houseplants that we would want to be watered.
We have walking trails throughout the property. Our home is located just 10 minutes from the small town of Bedford, Virginia in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We have four mild seasons. The town is home to the D-Day Memorial and is just 20 minutes to the Peaks of Otter and the Appalachian trail. Smith Mountain Lake is just a 20 min drive.
