Hello Future Friend/House sitter!!!
We are looking for a mature person or couple that loves cats and aquariums who can take care of them and our home while we are in Utah for ten days in March.
We have several aquariums with fish and other aquatic animals that require daily attention. Experience with freshwater aquariums is not required, but highly desirable.
You will have your own house to stay in while taking care of our home. It is a future that is very nice!
The property is beautiful! We have 4.5 wooded acres approx. 50 miles North of Houston, Texas. We have armadillos, raccoons, opossums, deer, and coyotes! Although it's rare to see most of them, they are here! Plus, many, many beautiful birds, including hummingbirds, huge woodpeckers and hawks! Thousands of frogs, lizards, and bugs roam this property because we do not use pesticides, or herbicides. We welcome all wildlife, except fire ants and cockroaches. We do not welcome these pests at all. On occasion, giant wood roaches will find their way into the house looking for water! We hope that won't happen while you are here. The cats will usually catch them and present them to you, as their toy. Yuck! Rarely, but sometimes, this happens. We do not have the kind that infest your home and get into the garbage. Thankfully!
The sitter that would best fit our needs would be one that absolutely does not smoke, is not afraid of critters, will water twice per day, and will make sure our cats do not escape while we are gone. They are not allowed outside, but will surely try if given the chance.
I have many outdoor plants that will need watering twice everyday. In the early morning and again before the sun goes down. The last house sitters/friends did not water at all and after two months, My plants almost died! I should've turned to house carers! I have bamboo plants that are very thirsty so dragging around hoses will be required since I do not have a watering system set up, yet. my potted plants dry out fast, so they cannot be skipped!
There will be other people living on site as we are landlords and our rental houses are right here on the property. You will not need to manage them in any way, but if there is an emergency, and they come to you, you will need to contact us to let us know.
Our property is in a very peaceful neighborhood, but because it's Texas, some of our neighbors who have acreage like to shoot their guns. It is rare, usually on weekends, but they have large enough yards/acreage to shoot on. If any bullets come anywhere near our land, the police should be called, because it is illegal! We have never had to call the police.
We live within 8 miles of Lake Conroe. Lake Conroe is a manmade lake that has many wonderful restaurants, parks, and activities available to explore. We like to fish, so we head to the Sam Houston National Forest's many campgrounds and toss in a line. The forest is just a short, but beautiful 20 minute drive. The famous Woodlands are just a 15 minute drive and the city of Houston is about an hour from our home. There is way too much to tell you about this giant city, so if you are curious please feel free to ask us, or just Google it!!! Lol!
