We need a dog-loving, non-smoking, fragrance-free, neat and clean person or couple who will enjoy our home, beautiful Northern New Mexico, the incredible local culture, the fabulous out-of-doors, and all the charms of Santa fe -- the City Different. January, February, March, 2022.
Our heeler mix dog needs a dog-loving companion while we are gone. I work from home and he is used to having a human around during the day. Previous Housecarers have all enjoyed our dog, Chama. He soon figures out that you're going to take him on walks, and then he'll be your best friend.
We know you'll want to explore Santa Fe, but we also want someone who will come and go rather than be gone all day every day. We hope you'll enjoy reading by the fire and soaking in the hot tub as much as you'll enjoy the million things to do in town and in the great outdoors. Folks who love to hike have a great time on all the Santa Fe trails with our trail-experienced dog. He needs to get exercise, so if you like to get out on the trails, this is a good match! There is a dog door and a big enclosed back yard, so he can come in and out as he pleases while you are out and about.
We have a comfortable home with a hot tub, big screen tv, nice kitchen and all the amenities of a well-kept home. We live not far from the Plaza, the heart of town, in a safe and friendly neighborhood on a quiet street. The house is pretty easy, just needing the everyday care you would afford your own home. There are some not-too-fussy houseplants and trees that will need deep watering a couple of times during your stay.
There are so many things to see and do within our small interesting city-- and so many fabulous restaurants! Santa Fe is an amazing place that embodies a rich history, melding Hispanic, Anglo and Native American cultures whose influences are apparent in everything from the architecture, the food, the art and on -- all with clean air and under sunny blue skies an average of 283 days a year. Santa Fe is seated at 7,000 feet with mountains all around, and winter can have cold days -- about 50 degrees on average. But with the sunshine, it doesn't feel that cold. Of course we'll hope for lots of snow in the mountains. Snow will probably fall a couple times during the winter in town, but it generally doesn't stay long on the ground. Nights in the high desert can get cold, but you'll mostly have clear and starry skies.
Flights come into Albuquerque (one hour away), but there are flights that can bring you right into Santa Fe and a short drive to our home. Better yet, drive so you'll have your car.
