We are looking for a house sitter for our two dogs from July 21 to August 23, 2023
This is an opportunity to be in Sacramento and get familiar with our fair city. It is known for its farm to table restaurants, its 25 mile walking and bike trail along the American River, its mild winters and cooling delta breeze during its hot, dry summers.
We have 2 people friendly dogs and a comfortable house in the suburbs of Sacramento. The house has a small garden that requires minimal maintenance. Natomas is a new neighborhood near the airport with shops, restaurants and services and only 10 minutes from the center of the city. The city region has 3 performing arts venues, many good restaurants, farmers' markets, over 50 craft breweries, art galleries and lots of local activities. Vehicle not provided but assistance with use of Lyft/Uber is possible.
References are required and love of dogs is a must! Basenjis are curious and on the look out for something interesting to do. A long walk in the morning is necessary - morning because it will be hot.
We live in an active adult community, gated, on the edge of Sacramento near the airport. It is a quiet neighborhood with extensive walking paths and an artificial lake bordered by a protected wildlife park and a large canal. Our home is on the edge of the city and next to fields, irrigation canals and flocks of birds. House is new, modern, appliances etc are new and we have solar. We have HD TV, high speed internet, and request no smoking in the house or yard. We have a small yard with roses, fruit trees, vegetables, and no lawn. There is an automatic irrigation system. There are no age limits on housesitters….
Normal house caring duties, and daily walks for our pets are our main focus. Sitters must be willing to spend majority of day, most days, in residence. We expect the house to be kept clean and tidy, the dog poop picked up promptly.
The dogs must be walked daily; One long walk in the morning is best in the heat. We have 2 curious Basenjis (6 year old sister and brother, Joia and Jeldi). Basenjis are a non barking breed but can make some interesting sounds….. We have installed baby gates to keep the dogs out of the bedrooms and have Basenji-proofed the living, dining, kitchen area. The dogs weight about 22 lbs each and are fixed.
The Basenjis are crate trained and can be left alone inside in their crates for 4 or 5 hours occasionally. One of our sons lives in Sacramento and is available to answer questions and oversee any pet care issues. We leave notes for the House Sitter that include emergency contact information, which neighbors can help, details on house and animal care etc. We have used house sitters numerous times and will do what we can to make your stay in our house a pleasant one.
