We are looking for a house sitter to look after our 12 year old English Bull Terrier. (Yes, like the Target Dog, Spuds McKenzie or Willy, Patton’s dog…whatever age you are, you know this kind of dog!)
She is sweet and loyal, bred to be a companion dog, and likes to play and go on short walks. She is not aggressive and has always known she is at the bottom of the pack in our family. She does not require medicine except once a month heartguard/flea pill given with food, and also she needs to go to the local vet every three weeks to get her allergy injection and a bath. We don’t have a dog door, but she taps on the door on the little protective screen to let you know she wants out. She is a mostly inside dog. She sleeps in a dog bed, and has a couple of favorite places in the house she likes to sleep. She is fine to leave for the day in the house if you want to go to New Orleans for a day trip, and she has a crate and travels well in the car too. However, she is short and 42 pounds of muscle so you have to be able to pick her up to get her into the car to put her in her crate to go places.
We are located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Pass Christian, a beautiful little town of about 5500 residents, about 1 hour drive from New Orleans, and 1.5 hours from Mobile Alabama. House is 3 bedroom 2 bath ranch with a fenced yard and awesome back deck, there is a golf course in the subdivision, as well as a pool and tennis courts. A lawn service comes twice a month to mow and edge, but the container plants will need watering and the deck needs a little sweeping when the pine needles blow on it. The beautiful white sand beaches are less than a mile away, and the downtown has quaint coffee shops, restaurants, a great library; a trip to War Memorial Park on the beach can be paired with a beautiful walk down Scenic Drive, with beautiful homes overlooking the Mississippi Sound. Bay St. Louis’ old town is just a 7 minute drive over the bridge to the east, where there is more nightlife, restaurants and quaint shops. Ocean Springs is about 30 minutes to the east, with more shops, nightlife and restaurants. The Barrier Islands are available by taking a clipper out of Gulfport Harbor to Ship Island, where you can explore the natural seashore preserve. Sailboats, kayaks, paddleboards, bikes are all available to rent locally to explore the area. The people are superfriendly and if you are looking for respite, perhaps to “feel like a local” and take a break from “traffic” the is THE PLACE. Especially good if you can work from home, bring your laptop and sip coffee while looking at sunrise on the beach. If you’re a musician, there is a 7 foot grand piano (well taken care of) at the house and a lot of sheet music that you are welcome to play to your heart’s desire.
