Hi
I'm in need of a sitter for my four cats, Murray, Milo, Joe Jackson, and Patti Smith, to stay at our home right by the Italian Market in the Bella Vista neighborhood of South Philadelphia. Start date would be the morning of Tuesday, March 5th through the afternoon or evening of Tuesday, March 12th.
The Cats:
All four of the cats are community cat rescues and each is a little nervous initially around strangers but they usually warm up to people with time. Murray will come around pretty quickly because he loves being pet and Milo and Joe will, after a couple days, want some form of interaction. Patty is the shyest so might hide, but she will pop out from time to time. Overall they are wonderful cats and I'm so glad that I brought them home from outside.
Murray is the one cat who needs extra care. He gets liquid thyroid medication mixed into his wet food twice daily so its important he eats it all and gets it farily on time. He also has a very loud wail instead of a meow and he mostly makes this sound repeatedly when he uses the litter box. You would need to be OK with his noisy cry but not be concerned about it because it is just his way. The other cats are low maintenance and mostly just eat dry food and drink a lot of water. Milo does like toys so that is a great way to interact with him. Joe has recently discovered belly rubs so he might want those from you.
The House:
The house is a typical South Philly row home that was recently renovated so it is more modern and comfortable. First floor is open concept: living room, dining room and kitchen with a back patio. 2nd floor has a large office, bathroom, and laundry/litter box room. 3rd floor has a bedroom, brand new bathroom, and a spare room for storage. We are looking for someone who will water the plants in the kitchen, and clean up after themselves, and keep the house as tidy as when they arrived.
The Neighborhood:
The house is located on a small, pretty, fairly quiet street in the Bella Vista neighborhood of South Philly just a block from the Italian Market. There are nearby coffeehouses, an open market, shops, and restaurants. Four blocks away is an Acme, Whole Foods, and Target. Downtown is just a minute walk and there a several bus lines nearby. You can also walk about 25 minutes to the historic district and see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Overall it is a great, friendly neighborhood that is both quiet but close to lots of things.
So I hope to find someone who will take great care of the cats, enjoy the house and neighborhood, and take care of the place like it was their own.
