I am looking for a non-smoking, healthy, cat loving couple to house-sit while we are away . The dates are flexible but we would like to be away for all March and April if possible. Dates to be discussed. We always give our housesitters a couple of days to settle in and aclimatise to the house and make friends with the cats before we leave.
Our house is situated in the heart of the Vendeen countryside so your own car is essential for transport to nearby towns etc, also being practical and accustomed to life in the country is helpful.
We have two very characterful, beautiful cats who need love and cuddles and someone to open the food for them. This is the priority while I am away but I would also like it if you can keep me updated with the mail by internet. We have wi-fi connection here and you are welcome to use the computer if you do not bring your own lap-top. Would suit a retired couple or researchers/authors who like peace and quiet in the countryside. Being able to speak and understand French would be useful.
The house is a large old farm property with 3 and a half acres of grounds so some tending of the garden may be required, especially the grass for which we have a nice ride-on mower. Being accustomed to living in the country and a knowledge of using wood burning stoves is quite important for this sort of property, our house is mainly heated by wood and the cooking stove in the kitchen is fuelled with wood, although there is a gas stove for use in the warmer months! All the wood has to be brought in from the shed so you need to be relatively fit and happy for a bit of exercise.
It is a very private peaceful place with great opportunities for wildlfe watching ( I put out food to attract the birds and red squirrels on a regular basis) and the gently sloping surroundings make it nice for walking and bike riding.
