What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Responsibilities will include keeping the house clean and tidy. There is a solid fuel stove that heats the house so would be ideal if you have experience of same. Start up the jeep now and then so the battery doesn't run out. I have a garden that must be kept watered and any weeds taken out. The grass must be cut which would involve a lawn mower and some strumming (weed eater) this is just along by the railing where the mower can't go,so knowledge of both is necessary. It's just someone respectful and with common sense.
What are the good features of the property and location
If you like quiet country areas with wildlife and lots of birds this place is ideal. The house is very cozy and comfortable. I have my little hut (see photo) in the yard with a beautiful view so you can still enjoy the view even when the weather is not so good. Location is twenty minutes drive from Cahir Town with a view of the mountain (galtys) I do not have any pets. This is a great place to be if you appreciate peace, quite, birdsong and a beautiful view.....The world famous Rock Of Cashel which no tourist should miss is 30 minutes drive away. Also on my doorstep is the Galty Mountains with lots of hillwalking and beautiful lakes to explore if you are into hiking. Beautiful Coillte woodlands with hours of walking. And Cahir Castle and the Swiss Cottage only 20 minutes away. It is also possible to do day a day trip to Cork City , Limerick City and Bunratty Castle...
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
This is an old farmhouse in the quiet countryside so you need to like being isolated. You will need your own transport as there is no public service provided. While the garden is small weeding is important so not suitable if you are allergic to pollen or have a bad back or allergy to anything really. Can you use a strimmer and push petrol (not ride on) a lawnmower. Also as (its a ten week )long term listing are you willing to stay in this area for that length of time. There would be little point in my getting a sitter if they wanted to leave the place empty so please take this on board. Are you happy to be in the countryside at night without street lights.....The bathroom is small and has no bath just a shower.
